INFO:
She’s had quite the year ✨ Wow - I can’t believe it’s new years eve already. Where has the time gone?! This interaction is special, so I wanted to save it as my last post of 2024. I met Olivia outside of the Vancouver Art Gallery. She was en-route to a Christmas party, and she was wearing a red outfit with a cozy jacket over top. As she walked by, she had this look of wonder on her face. I was able to catch up with her before she crossed the street, and I asked if I could take her photo. Thankfully, she said yes 🙏 I love people like Olivia. She has a deep curiosity about people (much like myself). She told me about her year, including her biggest achievements and challenges. But she also showed genuine interest in learning about me - my project, my ethos, my life. This made it super easy to connect, even though we just met. I’ve said this countless times now - but this project has allowed me to meet the most interesting people this year. And I’m unbelievably grateful for that. Thanks for following along on this journey with me this year. And I wish you all a happy, healthy 2025. 🙏 — 🎨 CREATIVE NOTE Olivia said she studied the feeling of “awe” this year. This was SUPER interesting to me… So rather than treat this like a typical portrait session, I took this photoshoot in a different direction. I wanted to capture the feeling of “awe” in her portraits. So we played with different poses, backdrops, lighting & facial expressions. I’ve never attempted to capture the feeling of “awe” before, so I’m not sure how well I did… But this was such a fun creative challenge, and I appreciate her being willing to work with me on it.
